Hedge Fund; Asia focused research and due diligence -Japanese language

A top hedge fund based in New York, with offices in London is seeking an individual to fill a Junior Researcher role (JR) for its London office; covering ASIA. This is a full time position with an immediate start date. The junior researcher will be part of the Research Department and reports locally to the Director of Research to the Global Head of Market Data/Research Services in New York.

Core activities:

Performing detailed investigative research and due diligence in connection with specific deals and investments, with a particular focus on qualitative questions around companies and developments in the Asia-Pacific region including but not limited to Japan, Korea, China and other Asian countries.

This typically involves:

o Extensive desktop research leveraging existing and new third party resources.

o Working with other Research team members

o Leveraging existing external consultants and identifying additional resources where appropriate;

· Managing parts of the firm’s network of research consultants, including expert networks, in the region, both as an on-going task and where needed for specific deal-related research;

Writing and analysis in the form of memos or longer briefs

Experience

  • At least three years of professional experience in journalism, business intelligence, political risk, consulting and/or other research-intensive industry.
  • Bilingual in English and Japanese
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities and working in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Ability to communicate confidently, effectively, and professionally with vendors, internal clients, and colleagues including Research and Research Services Department members globally.
  • Savvy internet research skills and persistent, creative approach to identifying information resources.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and a comfort with assertiveness, persistence and creativity to solve complex and nuanced problems.
  • Quantitative and/or computer science skills for data-heavy analysis are welcome.
